What a great day! I set a new record, which is always a good thing. I slept in late this morning. For some reason I have a very hard time waking up. I didn’t even get on the road until 8:30. However The wind was at my back and I was able to make 60km by 10:30! I managed to make Portage le Prairie by 1:00, although it was a tough ride and for the last 50-60km seemed to take forever. It never seemed to get any closer!

I stopped for lunch at Pizza Hut and this gentleman advised me to get off the Tranny and get onto the #26, which is actually the old tranny. The road wasn’t great, but considering what shit all roads are here I didn’t mind. I wonder what people visiting Canada think when they get here. “Gee, these poor people can’t even maintain a road.”
The wind had moved to the North so I no longer had that sweet, sweet tailwind, but I had already bitten off 130km and Winnipeg was in my sights so with head down and legs pumping I moved onto the smaller road and put the headphones back in. The 26 was a long road but nice and had lots of historic stops (which I blew by) When I reached the end I was only 13km from Winnipeg!
I am staying at the hostel for a few days while my legs and butt recover.
