Art Galleries and the CBC

So I hung around Regina gallery hopping. There was one artist in particular whose work I though was especially good. His name is David Dreher and he is repped by the assiniboine gallery

This is a sample of his work. The original is 36×36 and the painterly skill is amazing! I got to talk to David while I was there. He was in the gallery because he was getting interviewed on CBC. So anyway I thanked him and went on my way.

Well I guess the CBC reported asked who I was and I had spent sometime talking with Neil, a gentleman who works at the Regina Art Gallery, where David’s show is being exhibited. Anyway she left messages for me at 2 galleries and at the hostel. So I called her up and we setup a time for them to interview me the next day.

It was a little bit of a mis-understanding. I am cycling across Canada and I look at art. I am not really cycling across Canada to look at art. But that was okay. Sheila, the wman interviewing me was a real professional. I was not nervous at all, even when they did the sound check and stuff because she was so friendly it was like having a conversation with a friend over coffee.

I talked about Linacre and my father, Maple Creek and Andrew Fraser, about Regina and its vibrant art scene. It was a great experience.

I went back to the hostel and packed my stuff. This older, bald, biker looking dude snored so bad the previous night that I grabbed my therma-rest and blankets and slept on the floor in the next room. In fact a Korean fellow slept in his clothes in another bed!

Once on the road, I faced a fierce headwind and only made 134km in 5:45 hours. I stopped for the night in Grenfell which had only a municipal campsite infested with mosquitos. WHEE!

Stats:
Distance: 134km
Average 23.1km
Time: 5:45
Max 44.8km
